Kroger and Kraft Foods Team Up to End Hunger in Dayton Area
Dayton, February 28, 2012 — As part of their continued effort to help bring an end to hunger in the Dayton community, Kroger’s Cincinnati/Dayton Division in a partnership with Kraft Foods will present $50,000.00 to The Foodbank on Wednesday, February 29. These represent this area’s proceeds from Kraft Foods’ Huddle to Fight Hunger program.
“We are extremely excited by this donation from Kroger and Kraft Foods,” stated Michelle Riley, CEO of The Foodbank. “It’s wonderful to have community partners who understand our cause and go out of their way to support The Foodbank’s mission to provide nutritious food to people in need. These funds will allow us to double our cooler and freezer capacity in order to provide more fresh fruits and vegetables and perishable foods for families. We are very thankful for this generous donation.”
Huddle to Fight Hunger was a social media driven and in-store promotion in which Kraft, along with its brands, encouraged customers to generate meal donations during the football season for the nation’s network of Feeding America foodbanks.
“Kroger and Kroger banner stores across the country continue to focus on hunger relief for the communities where we live and operate,” said Sukanya Madlinger, President of the Cincinnati/Dayton Marketing Division. “And our commitment has not wavered in the face of this on-going battle. Getting more fresh foods into the hunger relief system is of paramount importance and these funds will be used to enable The Foodbank to take in more perishable donations. Thanks to this program, more of our neighbors and their families will sit down to a fresh and healthy meal.”
