Walgreens Supports Miami Valley at Dayton Foodbank

Dayton, September 19, 2013 – In a strong show of support for the Miami Valley community, Walgreens contributed both food and volunteer-power to The Foodbank. Having donated food items collected at over 3 dozen stores in the Miami Valley, Walgreens management personnel also helped sort donated food and prepared dietetic boxes for diabetic food-insecure individuals.

Ohio’s First Lady Kasich Visits Dayton Foodbank

Dayton, September 10, 2013 – Ohio’s First Lady Kasich visited The Foodbank today along with representatives of Feed Ohio, a statewide food and funds drive in support of Ohio foodbanks. A strong supporter of hunger relief efforts, First Lady Kasich has worked extensively with the Governor’s Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives on behalf of the hungry. After speaking to a group of local students and receiving a tour of The Foodbank, First Lady Kasich helped pack backpacks for food insecure children in Montgomery, Greene, and Preble counties.

What is Feed Ohio? Ohio’s First Lady Karen W. Kasich will join the Governor’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives and faith-based and community groups throughout Ohio to lead Feed Ohio, a statewide food and funds drive to support Ohio foodbanks. The campaign commences August 24th and continues through September 11, a National Day of Service and Remembrance. Donations raised through the Feed Ohio campaign will benefit the Ohio Association of Foodbanks and their 12 member regional food banks that provide emergency food items to needy Ohioans in all 88 counties.


Woodforest Charitable Foundation and Ohio Managers Show Support for The Foodbank

Dayton, April 24, 2013 – Once again demonstrating their commitment to helping the community, Woodforest Charitable Foundation and Ohio Managers donated $3,025 to The Foodbank for the Good-to-Go Backpack Program, which provides nutritious kid friendly food to food-insecure schoolchildren over the weekend when they might otherwise go hungry.
